It’s overcast, but the flowers were still shining brightly. Could that be a metaphor for my current state? Most likely.
I was asked recently why, if the relationship was so bad, was I still sad about my marriage ending. The thing is, even if you know, in the end someone is right for you, it’s still the death of dreams, hopes, a future that was envisioned but didn’t happen. While the death of dreams wasn’t a reason to stay, it does still hurt.
Grief is a funny thing though, at first there was just relief, but the last few months have been a depression unlike anything I’ve experienced since I was raped. Also, never underestimate the power of being vulnerable. Brene Brown is having her moment in the spotlight right now for a good reason. Check out her documentary on Netflix. It’s only been by opening up to my friends, and to you dear Insta friends, that I have been able to process and connect a lot of the dots. Here’s to the next chapter, may it bring many flowers and a few clouds to keep things in perspective.
