Calming, Soothing Oil

Danielle LaPorte came out with some new candles.  In reading their descriptions, I realized they were all talking about doshas.  Not knowing what that was, I googled the word and found Deepak Chopra's dosha type quiz.  Loving quizzes, I took it and found out I was a Vata.

What's all that have to do with Sunday?  Well, it turns out that slathering oneself in oil is a great thing for cool, dry Vatas and I'd recently made a great oil concoction.

So...I thought I'd share my recipe:

In a glass jar, combine:

  • 1 part olive oil
  • 1 part jojoba oil
  • 1 part coconut oil
  • A couple of dropper-fulls of rose hip oil
  • An essential oil in a soothing-to-you scent (I use rose absolute oil)

This stuff has been magical! I haven't used lotion since making it as this has been way more effective.  I've been getting more compliments on my skin as well.  I'm looking forward to using it today to try out Abhyanga today to see if I can get my tense neck to relax a bit.

A few tips:

Try to find organic oils.  Smearing pesticides on your largest organ may be counter-productive.

Don't worry about the exact ratio - just play around with what you have on hand.

If you don't want to hunt down all the ingredients, and you live locally, I'll be hosting a meet-up to make some!  Shoot me an email if you're interested.
