While I've known a few people who don't particularly like music, the vast majority of us rely on it to be the sound track of our lives. Angry music for when you want to throw something, soothing music for when you want to calm down, energizing music when it's time for a walk.
This week's mission is to listen to music the nurtures, uplifts and energizes.
I'm wrapping my head around not buying anything else for the year, more on that later, but I did break down and purchase an "all in one" type audio unit. Turntable, CD, USB input and Radio. FABULOUS. Does it sound as good as a Bose? No. But for the price and convenience it can't be beat. While I'm not suggesting you go out and buy a new media unit, this puppy definitely upped our enjoyment. JT was stoked to have a place to play his CDs again and I was stoked to have a place to play my vinyl. While it has been awesome to be living in the age of every song available on every device via Spotify or Pandora, there is something real about touching an actual piece of vinyl. Something grounding.
So, your homework. Go, turn on some music. Sit and listen. Walk and listen. Feel the joy it can bring.
