Now that the socks are handled, it’s time to set that timer for 20 and gather up all of your underwear. Think panties, bras or boxers, depending on your needs.
Once they are gathered up, lay the all out on your bed.
Grab any of your favorites and set those to the side. Now it’s time to look at the rest of them and ask a few questions:
- Do I ever wear this?
- Does this fit?
- Is this stained?
- Does this have a hole in it?
- Do I like this color?
- Why do I have 13 thongs, when I only wear briefs?
- I do laundry once a week, do I really need 30 pairs “just in case”?
I whittled my collection down to about 10 pairs and never seem to run out. I did however, finally, wear out a pair. There is great satisfaction in using a thing up, rather than just chasing new things. 10 may not be your number, but I urge you to try at least as few as 14. That’s a new pair every day for 2 weeks. Surely you’ll do laundry at some point in the next 2 weeks?
Once you’ve picked out your keepers, it’s time to put them away. I recommend folding them and storing them horizontally. There’s no wrong way to fold them, you jus want a nice rounded bump at the top so they look nice in your drawer. I promise it’s worth it.
For the underwear you are letting go, put them in a bag labeled “rags” and take them to Goodwill to recycle.
