Let’s talk about eyes makeup. If you’re wearing frosted blue eye-shadow, today is your day. You either are truly on trend and far cooler than I, or your eye makeup is stuck in the ‘80s. Either way, I’m sure it could use a little bit of tidying.
Set that time for 20 and grab all of your eye makeup. Think:
- Eye liner
- Eye pencil
- Liquid eye liner
- That other tube of mascara
- Any and all samples for Birchbox
A little more real talk. You only have 2 eyes with a very small surface area. Makeup seems to last FOREVER. Case in point, the Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palette I’ve been using for 3 years. It just won’t quit. I wish it would, I’m honestly a little bored with it, but it still has so much powder left that I feel bad tossing it. While not as long-lived, my eyeliner seems to last at least 6 months with daily use. What about you? Do you ever use your makeup all the way up? If you’ve ever been overwhelmed in the morning while putting on your makeup? Today’s the day to be brutal in your editing. In my perfect world, you’d only have
- One eye-shadow palette (you don’t have to go fishing for your eyeshadow, it’s all in one place)
- One mascara
- A pencil eye-liner
- A liquid eye-liner
- One or two miscellaneous items that you’ve discovered and loved
If that sounds crazy to you, I dare you to put the above items, plus your face makeup and one or two lipsticks into a makeup bag, put the rest of your eye-makeup into a box and just use the bag for a week or two. I promise you’ll love the pared down simplicity of your morning makeup routine.
I also have another small makeup bag with special occasion makeup in it. Think brighter eye-shadows, darker lipsticks, glitter and HD powder. Keeping those items out of my daily use makeup bag has kept my routine simplified.
