For a long time, I did battle with my fine, frizzy hair and dry skin. Always stocking up on the latest miracle product that would make my hair and skin soft and glowing like the magazine ads. But I was purchasing new things without using up the old and shoving the old to the back of the cabinet. I don't think I was alone in this practice.
After switching to using a shampoo soap bar and pure oil for my hair and skin, I found I could eliminate several toiletries. To keep the remaining products from taking over the bathroom, I now keep only 1 extra of each. As an added benefit, I have found that settling on just one type of soap, sunscreen, deodorant, toothpaste, etc. keeps the "ooh shiny! that looks better than what I have!" impulse purchases to a minimum.
I've come to love the spare, neat look of just having one small-ish bin that contains all our unused, spare products. In taking the photo below, I realized I needed to order that one replacement of my shampoo bar, deodorant and toothpaste. It's so easy to keep track of what we have now! If it's not in the box, we are out.
Do you think you could choose just one of each type toiletry?
Does this sound crazy to you?
